3D Scanning is generally the first step in recreating a rare restoration part. Also known as metrology, it is the ability to digitally capture a 3 dimensional image of a component. To capture a full 3D image, a component is scanned multiple times from various angles. These individual images are the merged to form a full 3D rendering.
Next, the file can be “cleaned up” (broken areas “repaired”, modifications and adjustments made, etc.) using CAD software and a 3D Printable file created.
In the case of a Custom part, our team will work with you to develop your creation using our CAD programs. Complex designs are ideally suited to 3D Printing technology so, be as creative as you like!
We are in the process of creating a gallery of parts for which we already have printable files. If the part is in our gallery, you will save on the design costs.
The cost for our parts scanning and design services is $100/Hr. The total will vary by size and condition of the part. Talk to us about your needs and we will work with you.
